I am preparing a symphony using all elements and mediums in a rhythm that will play good music. Music is used as a timeline. Whether a slow jam, a jazz groove, or hip-hop I use music as inspiration in creating in my pieces. I am a detached observer who is able to record events and scenes occurring around me. I internalize and infuse them with my own feelings and emotions. These scenes combine realism, abstractionism, politics, and fantasy. I will consider myself a printmaker, mixed media artist who enjoys drawing portraits and collaging abstract pieces. My inspiration is drawn from friends and family throughout my life and places I've traveled. Each of my pieces is influenced by someone in my life or a journey of events that have taken me places throughout the years. Various people talk about how I'm able to catch the essence of someone's likeness in my portraits. People that see my work are often amazed at how I am able to construct the pieces by combining various colors, shapes, and forms into a collage. As my mentor always tells me, “If I don't teach you anything else at least you would know designing composition.” The pieces before you today I consider it my “B****** Brew” which is a jazz album by Miles Davis. Tales with highs and lows but the excitement of color in the festivity of things to come.
